Father and Son Masonry is a growing business located in South Phoenix seeking a full-time Lead Mechanic that can immediately add value to the organization and mesh with the dynamic, hardworking, and adaptable team that exists today. The selective Lead Mechanic will be assigned to run the Shop and successfully complete all daily work orders. To be successful, you must be a quick learner, a quick thinker and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done and satisfy our customers.
Objectives of this Role:
To supervise Shop. Provide skilled mechanical work in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a variety of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems on heavy gasoline and diesel power-driven vehicles and equipment; to perform preventive maintenance duties; to schedule daily work priorities, maintain inventory and records for mechanic shop; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Schedule for this position: Full-Time, Mon - Fri
Responsibilities:
-Plan, organize, supervise and participate in daily maintenance/repair of Company trucks, tractors, power tools both gas and diesel.
-Perform skilled mechanic duties including maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing.
-Keep inventory, store and manage maintenance of all tools; manage and maintain inventory spreadsheet.
-Estimate the cost and time or repairs.
-Assist in purchasing repair parts/supplies.
-Perform occasional service calls on jobsites to perform minor repairs.
-Log and record repair orders and maintenance history completed on trucks, tractors and equipment.
-Organize and maintain Shop appearance and functionality
-Observe health and safety regulations; maintain Shop in a clean, safe and in orderly condition.
-Comply and enforce Shop standards, policies and procedures.
-Advise supervisor of matters deserving attention regarding repairs.
-Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Leads staff to meet departmental objectives.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
-Operate forklift, trucks and a variety of tools/equipment as necessary in a safe and effective manner.
Skills and Qualifications:
-5-7+ years prior mechanic experience; 2-5 years management experience preferred
-Knowledge of Masonry & Concrete tools and equipment preferred
-Fabrication, welding, gas, diesel, hydraulics and power tool knowledge required
-Able to analyze automotive malfunctions and apply corrective action
-HS degree or GED required
-Valid AZ Driver’s License required. CDL is a plus.
-Forklift experience required (certification/training is a plus)
-Knowledge of space utilization and inventory techniques; proper methods of storing equipment, materials and tools.
-Computer skills for management of software for automotive maintenance program and parts inventory control.
-Basic math skills
-Strong attention to detail and accuracy
-Strong note taking skills
-Bilingual a plus
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
-Capable of lifting, carrying and pushing heavy material up to 50lbs
-Able to work in extreme outdoor weather conditions
-Able to operate motorized equipment and vehicles
-Able to frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach and climb
-Able to frequently use tools such as; power tools, circular saws, drills, etc…
