Job Description:
A scenic carpenter at Merestone builds custom pieces, tradeshow booths, and facades to client specifications. Our team is creative and talented, turning visions into reality. This position works closely with the Scene Shop Foreman to build projects on time, on spec, and on budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Construct and assemble set pieces, props, and other scenic elements based on design specifications.
Collaborate with designers, directors, and other crew members to ensure seamless integration of all components.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment in the scene shop.
Operate and maintain power tools and machinery.
Assist in the installation and striking of sets during production.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a carpenter, preferably in a scene shop or theater environment.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
Strong understanding of construction techniques and materials.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical labor for extended periods.
Comfortable working in various environments, including indoors and outdoors.
