Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Sign Service and Installer Journeyman to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of sign installation, repair, and maintenance. This position requires the ability to work with a variety of signage types, including exterior and interior signs, electronic displays, and specialty graphics. The Journeyman will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, functionality, and safety of all sign-related work.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and service all types of signage, including but not limited to neon, LED, channel letters, pylon signs, and more.
- Perform electrical work related to signage, such as wiring, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Operate and maintain installation equipment such as ladders, scissor lifts, and cranes.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and repairs on existing signage, ensuring it is in good working order.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs to ensure proper functionality.
- Collaborate with customers to ensure sign installations meet their needs and expectations.
- Maintain proper documentation of installations, repairs, and service calls.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal safety regulations during installations and service work.
- Work closely with the project manager to ensure projects are completed on time.
- Keep the work area clean and organized to promote safety and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sign installation and service, with a strong understanding of sign types, electrical components, and installation techniques.
- Journeyman-level knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, grounding, and troubleshooting.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work at heights and use aerial lifts, ladders, and other equipment safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- OSHA or other safety certifications are a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.)
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and in different environments, including outdoor and elevated work areas.
- Comfort working at heights (up to 100 feet or higher) using scaffolding, ladders, or aerial lifts.
