The Structural Steel Field Foreman oversees and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in the installation and erection of structural steel. This position requires thorough knowledge of structural steelwork, strong leadership abilities, and excellent communication skills to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Coordination
Supervise and coordinate the activities of structural steel workers, including welders, riggers, and other related trades.
Plan and schedule project timelines, work sequences, and resource allocation in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Ensure adherence to project specifications, blueprints, and safety standards.
Quality Control
Inspect work areas and completed work to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to steel erection and installation.
Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure work is completed with attention to detail.
Safety Management
Enforce all safety protocols and procedures on the job site.
Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks.
Ensure all workers are using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and are trained in safety practices.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate daily logs and records of work performed, materials used, and any incidents or delays.
Report project progress, issues, and any deviations from the plan to the Project Manager.
Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation required for project completion.
Team Leadership
Provide training and mentoring to crew members, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and skill development.
Resolve conflicts and promote teamwork among crew members.
Motivate and encourage workers to meet project goals and deadlines.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in structural steel work preferred.
Minimum of [X] years of experience in structural steel erection and installation.
Previous supervisory experience in a construction or industrial setting.
Skills and Competencies
Strong understanding of structural steel construction techniques, tools, and equipment.
