Requirements:
* High school diploma or the equivalent
* Graduate of formal Medical Assistant training program - Certified in Arizona
* 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience
* Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
* Highly Computer proficient
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients for various types of procedures, giving necessary instruction and keeping schedules flowing smoothly. Assess patient by taking vital signs and brief medical history of complaints, allergies and medications. Obtains weight, height, visual acuity on general physicals as needed. Completing and updating patient medical records to include problem lists, medication lists, allergies and medical histories. Prepare patients for examination and able to explain treatment procedures. Assisting the physician during the examination. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, and perform basic laboratory tests. Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments. Clean and maintain exam rooms following each patient visit. Administer various injections as directed by a physician. Preparing medication prescriptions for physician signature.
- Perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the daily physician workflow running smoothly including answering telephone calls, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, arranging for laboratory services and obtaining prescription refill approval from physician. Able to confirm follow-up appointments and need for medication refills.
- Screens lab, x-ray and ancillary testing results, route to physician for review and signature. Provide results and instructions to patients as directed by physician. Able to answer general care questions from patients. Is courteous and pleasant and able to put patients at ease.
- Patient Historical Data Input to EMR: problems list (ICD9), past medical history (ICD9), medication list, allergies, etc.
