Primary responsibilities include support for materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of parts.Candidates with hands-on experience in welding/brazing processes will be preferred. At least 7 years working experience. Key requirements of the role will be the ability to interface directly with suppliers and provide support with production troubleshooting.Candidate will be responsible for defining manufacturing process approval requirements, product testing and design qualification for aerospace applications. Candidate will be responsible for reviewing drawing, specification and product substantiation requirements and ensuring that requirements are flowed down to suppliers effectively. Position defines substantiation test requirements and process requirements that need to be satisfied to pass first article inspection. Responsibilities include:
specification maintenance, process documentation, approval of
suppliers and casting components
conducting maintenance audits to ensure specification and
process compliance
support determination of Root Cause and Corrective Action
associated with process escapes
identification of producibility opportunities and cost
reductionTechnical skills include a broad understanding of materials, processing and applications, understanding of mechanical and design requirements for aerospace components, effective communication and participation on teams with considerable focus on manufacturing and design. Trains and mentors suppliers in various aspects of materials and process engineering. The main customers of this position are the Honeywell engineering and manufacturing units and Supply Chain personnel (Sourcing) as well as the supply base.YOU MUST HAVE:
Bachelors' Degree with specialization in Welding Engineering, Material Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy or equivalent.
At least 7+ years welding/brazing experience (Master's or PhD degree in Welding Engineering would require 3 years), to include:
Knowledge and domain of American Welding Society (AWS) standards.
Familiarity and proficiency using AWS D17.1, AWS D17.2, AWS A2.4, and AWS A3.0.
Knowledge and experience working with gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), electron beam welding (EBW), laser beam welding (LBW), resistance welding (RW), inertia welding (IW).
WE VALUE:
Experience with Aerospace NADCAP requirements.
Ability to work in a cross-functional team of design engineers, quality engineers, supply chain, suppliers, etc.
