job detailsjob summary:A Mechanical Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Tucson, AZ area. This role will design, develop, and integrate engine and cooling installations for Large Mining Trucks by addressing design challenges, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and delivering quality, cost-effective engineering solutions.location: Tucson, Arizonajob type: Contractsalary: $31.99 - 44.79 per hourwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelorsresponsibilities:
Support the Engine Installation and Cooling team for Large Mining Trucks through research, development, and investigation of product designs, systems, and processes.
Develop and update engineering changes while reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints.
Identify design and manufacturing process issues, troubleshoot, and provide timely resolutions for NPI, CPI, BIQ, shop support, and DA activities.
Perform component and subsystem integration within engine and cooling installations.
Review project scope, perform 3D modeling, and initiate signoff workflows.
Collaborate with system teams for space claim resolution and integrate lessons learned from field history into designs.
Coordinate updates to drawings, engineering notices, and production schedules with cross-functional teams.
Skills:
Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics required.
Knowledge of engineering processes, drawing standards and specifications required.
Proficiency in Creo (Pro/E) modeling and simulation tools (or equivalent).
Knowledge and experience with problem solving analysis - determining root cause, troubleshooting, concept generation, etc.
Product development experience including product design, validation test and/or simulation.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross functional teams and deliver proven, high-quality, cost-effective designs within committed timelines.
Mechanical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required.
5-7 years' experience required.
Associates Degree with 6+ years of experience.
