WAITER or WAITRESS JOB DESCRIPTION: Two Part Time Positions available. Part-time hours 10-20 a week, maybe more hours if you prefer, depending on your skill.
One opening has hours starting 12 noon Monday-Friday. The end of the shift will depend on how many hours you need and your skill level. For example, it could be a 12-4p, 12-5p, or 12-8p.
The second opening will be at various hours depending on your availability.
This is not a fast-food restaurant, but a hip setting for fresh, healthy, and uniquely
styled Mexican food and seafood. “Con Gusto” or my pleasure is our motto.
We are looking for a Waiter or Waitress to take orders and deliver food and
beverages to our customers.
The right waiter/waitress improves the dining experience for customers. This would be
someone with the patience, personality, and perseverance to thrive in this role.
Waiter/Waitress responsibilities include greeting and serving customers
detailed information on menus, multi-tasking with various front-of-the-house duties, and collecting the bill. We'd like to meet you if you can perform well in such an environment.
To be a successful Waiter or Waitress, you should be polite to your customers and make sure they enjoy their meals. You should also be a team player and be able to effectively communicate with our Kitchen Staff to make sure orders are accurate and delivered promptly.
Keep in mind that Waiter/Waitress duties may require working shifts at night, weekends, and holidays, but we are very flexible. We will bend backward to work with your shift if you are skilled at this position.
It is the duty of our Waiters/Waitresses to provide an excellent overall dining
experience. Guests should walk away not only satisfied with their palate but also with a pleasant
memory of their time with us.
You will bus your own tables and do not need to share your tips with anyone.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare tables by setting up rolling and polishing silverware, polishing glassware and setting up tables
Greet and escort customers to their tables
Bussing your tables
Present the menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g., about
portions, ingredients, or potential food allergies)
Inform customers about the specials and upsell
Offer menu recommendations upon request
Take correct food and drink orders using POS ordering software. You must take all orders down on a guest check
Sign off on to go order ensuring the order is correct
Communicate order details to the Kitchen Staff
Serve food and drinks.
Deliver checks and collect bill payments
Bus your table and carry dirty plates, glasses, and silverware to the kitchen for cleaning
Check customers’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for
consumption of alcoholic beverages if you are of age to serve alcohol.
Meet with the Head Cook to review daily specials, changes on the menu
and service specifications for reservations (e.g., parties)
Follow all relevant health department regulations.
Supply excellent customer service to guests.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
NO experience needed if you have the skills to do the job however proven work experience is an asset.
Firsthand experience with a pos system is a plus but not required
Basic math skills to be able to make change for customers. Attentiveness and patience for customers
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well
in a fast-paced environment.
Active listening and effective communication skills
Team spirit
You should have clean personal hygiene and clothes.
Flexibility to work in shifts
