Lead Engineer (Maintenance)

The Lead Engineer verifies the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications; ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures; performs safety and maintenance inspections. Assists in a variety of mechanical repairs, variety of gasoline and diesel power equipment; maintenance work, including servicing motorized equipment. overhauling, repairing, services and lubricating automotive, turf and other outdoor powered equipment. Ensures all equipment is always in efficient and operable condition. Organizes and maintains a clean and safe area and maintenance area; performs related tasks as required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Chief of Engineering to keep him updated on the completion of daily repairs.

Performs general repairs and maintenance for all areas within the operation including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, and structural aspects of the buildings and grounds.

Conduct safety inspections and checks of emergency lighting, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and fire sprinklers.

Replace air filters on a routine schedule. Perform general cleaning and maintenance tasks on vehicles and equipment.

Promptly respond to front desk reports of guest/tenant's problems or concerns, informs the front desk when action is complete so the front desk update maintenance records.

Monitor equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety.

Identify and report to supervisor when supplies are needed.

Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the department manager.

Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

Skills/ Abilities

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to apply basic mathematical skills.

Must possess good verbal and written skills.

Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time.

Education/Experience:

High School or equivalent education

Building maintenance experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in maintaining commercial HVAC, appliance repairs, addressing basic electrical issues, and plumbing.

Experience using hand electrical tools.

Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.

Valid driver’s license.

Must be able to pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to physically reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 75 pounds.

Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold, indoors/outdoors).

Must be able to work around chemicals, dust, fumes and/or odor hazards.

Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encounter fumes or airborne pathogens (safety equipment provided).

Must be able to work in a loud environment and in areas near moving mechanical parts.
