General Responsibilities:
1)Receive, unload, and stock metal supplies in accordance with safety regulations and company procedures.
2)Maintain accurate inventory records using our warehouse inventory tracking methods.
3)Operate various warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, tools, heavy machinery and handheld power tools.
4)Operate metal cutting machinery (e.g., bandsaw, metal shear) safely and effectively to cut metal to customer specifications.
5)Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
6)Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SPECIFIC TASKS:
Receiving and Stocking:
1)Unload incoming deliveries of metal supplies, verifying quantities and turning packing slips into designated person(s).
2)Transport and store metal supplies in designated locations, ensuring proper organization and safety protocols.
Order Picking and Packing:
1)Review packing slips for customer orders for metal supplies.
2)Locate and pick the required metal items from the warehouse, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
3)Cut metal to exact customer specifications using appropriate equipment and safety procedures.
Metal Cutting:
1)Select and set up the appropriate metal cutting machinery for the specific order requirements.
2)Securely clamp and position metal pieces according to safety protocols and cutting specifications.
3)Operate cutting machinery safely and efficiently, minimizing waste and maintaining accuracy.
4)Deburr and clean-cut metal pieces as needed.
Working Conditions:
1)Physically demanding job requiring frequent lifting, bending, and reaching.
2)Work in a warehouse environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, and potential hazards from machinery and materials.
3)May require working overtime or weekends depending on business needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment a plus.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Basic understanding of metalworking principles and safety procedures preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and move moderate weight (e.g., 50 lbs).
- Forklift certification preferred.
