Target Operations Target UAS Operator I Job Code:2024:0402-149 Location:Yuma Proving Ground, AZ FT/PT Status:Full Time Business Sector:Test Range Operations Job Description Represents Target Operations in a wide variety of areas within the test range environment. Assists with test preparation, set-up, execution, logistics, data collection, and reporting for various unmanned aerial systems (UAS), sensors, tethered aerostat surveillance, aircraft weapons, electronic warfare, and a wide variety of sensor platform training and testing programs. Operates target unmanned aerial systems (TUAS) including various types of Remote Control (RC) aircraft, both fixed and rotary winged. Assists with the conduct of field testing in various roles while in support of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) programs. Receives, transports, emplaces, and ships supplies, test items, and equipment while maintaining accountability. Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills in person, on the telephone, and in written correspondence (such as e-mail). Provides direct support to senior team members to work with Test Officer while executing requirements for placement and operation of target assets. Assists with maintaining control of targets and ensures target operations are executed in accordance with test plan and operational procedures and instructions. Performs other duties as required to complete the assigned mission. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Qualifications Pay Rate: $27.26Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a minimum of 1 year professional flight experience with RC aircraft such as DJI Phantom quadcopters, Opterra Flying Wings, or similar drone aircraft systems. Must be capable of earning and maintaining TUAS Operator Certificate under the Aviation Systems and Electronic Test Division within 6 months of hire. Job Skills Requirements: Must be able to use Microsoft Office – including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must have interest in learning and developing in the field of test and evaluation of military equipment and systems. Must have the ability to conduct and perform UAS systems operations, demonstrations, and maintenance. Must be able to communicate with customers, coworkers, support personnel, military, government, management, and senior officials in a professional, positive, and customer-focused manner. Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests. Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned. Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Must meet the physical requirements necessary to perform operations outlined, performed, and stated in the SOPs for Aviation and TRAX. Must be able to work long and varied hours. Must be capable of frequent bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, standing, climbing, and stooping, sometimes for long periods. Must be able to ascend and descend equipment, including large vehicles as high as 8-10 feet. Must be able to visually distinguish colors. Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions. Must have a valid Arizona Driver’s license without special restrictions. Must have dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication.Additional Desirable Qualifications: Knowledge of military systems, accounting procedures, and military logistics. Have 2 years of experience providing test support services within military test ranges. Experience with RC, UAS maintenance and repairs, telemetry, video transmitters and receivers, and associated software. Possess a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Proficient with Microsoft Office Level II Ammo Certification. Possess and maintain an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License. Have knowledge of FAA Airspace requirements. Current A, A, & E Certification. Able to multi-task, be highly organized, and possess a willingness to adapt to changing situations in a fast paced work environment.
