This position is governed by agency/ institution policy.FunctionsMonitors building construction projects in progress, reviews designs for new construction projects, bids and recommends bid awards, meets with contractors involved in projects to communicate needs and project requirements, and reviews all changes during construction. Prepares reports to keep officials abreast of projects, participates in long range planning for campus construction, prioritizes building projects in accordance with long range plans, and reviews building usage, occupants, and traffic patterns. Reviews inspection reports and payments to contractors, monitors correction of defects during warranty period, and develops procedures for preventative maintenance programs to be used for new construction. Prepares cost estimates and project descriptions, prepares construction budgets, and recommends methods for financing projects. Recommends potential architects, engineers, or contractors to campus purchasing officials and coordinates construction projects with various state agencies. Plans and designs in-house projects and estimates costs. Determines projects to be completed by the physical plant and prepares summaries to keep management advised.
