Bentoville is a new Japanese dining experience in Bentonville, AR
We are hosting Food Concerts (dining experiences with iconic visiting guest chefs from Japan and around the world), offering innovative take-home bento boxes, and opening our brick & mortar multi-concept Japanese restaurant in Spring 2025.
We're looking for an experienced, passionate, organized, and driven Sous Chef, eager to master the art of Japanese cuisine and grow within our company
Essential responsibilities:
Work and train directly with Head Chef Billy Kong (SF Michelin star) and visiting Chefs
Develop and execute menus to the highest standard
Demonstrate exemplary leadership skills with the kitchen team
Source and manage local food procurement and inventory for all aspects of the operation
Lead and develop our local culinary team and bento box production
Implement and maintain a safe and healthy work environment in line with Health Department and OSHA standards
Develop SOPs for kitchen processes, including menu development, costing, ordering and receiving protocols, menu creation, staff morale, education and culture
Ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance, safety, and sanitation within the kitchen and across the operation
Work closely and harmoniously with the operations team
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of restaurant experience as a sous, station chef or kitchen lead
Experience with Japanese cuisine; sushi experience a big plus
Professional conduct and leadership skills
Strong organizational and time management skills, and a solution oriented disposition.
Experience in building and managing teams and scaling for operations
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
Passion for learning and growth - especially around Japanese cuisine.
