SEEKING A KIND-SPIRITED CAREGIVER

Welcome!

My name is Thomas and I just turned 40 years old. I love and live for live music. I love attending camping music festivals. I'm very kind and positive and keep a healthy state of mind. I am very strong-willed and have a can-do attitude. It has gotten me far in life. My previous caregivers were with me for over 10 years because of the love, respect and understanding that we shared. I am in a transitional phase where I have a new wonderful brother roommate caregiver and we need some help 2 to 3 days a week. We really need someone with a flexible schedule. What I am truly seeking is hopefully a new member of my family who is also kind and wholeheartedly interested and helping me better my situation. I intend for this to be a very positive equal exchange of energy.

I live with and overcome a degenerative neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. I'm in a wheelchair and need help with most all physical tasks from dressing, feeding, using the restroom as well as bathing. The most important part of helping me is transferring safely. You will need to pick me up with one arm under my knees and the other behind my shoulders. This is why I am requiring all applicants to be physically fit as I do not use a Hoyer lift. I weigh about 120 lb and have very long unwieldy dreadlocks. 420 friendly but must be able to pass a background check in order to get paid by Medicaid. No alcoholics or heavy drug users. For longevity sake I'm interested in someone who is interested in staying in the area and is under the age of 40. In the past I have strictly said only men should apply because that is who typically has been able to safely lift me but if you are a very strong woman who is confident in this I will be happy to meet you. The pay is $15 an hour and if you don't have your CNA or have never done any training there is an easy online course to take in order to get paid by Medicaid. Having a flexible schedule is important so that other caregivers and yourself can trade days and ask off as needed. There will be an opportunity to pick up random shifts.

Also, I have two sweet dogs that need to be fed and taken out a few times a day. If you are an open-minded person, read all of this and believe it could be a good fit, I look forward to hearing from you. Please send a picture of yourself and some information about yourself so I can get a feel of who you are. Thank you for your time. Much love.
