Position Summary:The Business Consultant is responsible for providing small business and marketing consulting and implementing training and events to owners or potential owners of small businesses in order to achieve the performance measures and economic impact goals of the ASBTDC. This is a full-time, grant-funded position.Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides consulting services to Arkansas entrepreneurs with an emphasis on business start-up marketing-related assistance
Provides consulting assistance including development of marketing strategies and marketing plans; assessment of current online and offline marketing activities; and conducting and utilizing market research to make recommendations for small business owners
Develops, coordinates, markets, and implements program events in the ASBTDC assigned geographic territory including securing speakers; coordinating logistics; and handling all reporting associated with program events
Instructs small business training events and assists with the development of curriculum
In collaboration with the Director and the Lead Center Communications Manager, develops and implements marketing for program events including creating event print and electronic marketing collateral, writing news releases and radio/newspaper advertising; and creating social media posts
Conducts outreach within the business community and works with small business lenders to generate consulting referrals
Maintains and documents events, client records, and related work activities in a manner consistent with program guidelines
Assists in the implementation of the ASBTDC marketing plan
Earns 32 hours of professional development annually according to the professional development policies of the organization
Performs other duties as assigned, in order to accomplish the goals and mission of the organization
Adheres to university and ASBTDC conflict of interest standards
Maintains confidentiality of assistance provided
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of marketing (online and offline) and business planningExperience in utilizing a variety of social media platforms for marketing purposes and converting them into online salesAbility to assess and identify potential target markets to develop customer segments and create marketing tactics that fit the overall business strategy and missionAbility to conduct and utilize market researchAbility to coordinate and deliver training events in a classroom setting and online via platforms such as ZoomExcellent writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skillsProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative SuiteMust have own transportation and the ability to meet the requirements to operate a vehicle on official state businessAbility to conduct evening and weekend work as requiredAbility to travel overnight as requiredAbility to travel out-of-state as requiredGeneral Days/Hours: Monday - Friday8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Additional hours as requested and/or neededRegular and reliable attendanceOther:Please note: all position postings close at 12:00 A.M.
