This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.FunctionsInterprets environmental health program requirements, health laws, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Provides technical assistance to the food industry through inspection procedures and service delivery recommendations. Develops food and environmental inspection training materials and conducts training sessions for environmental health specialists. Evaluates inspection skills of field environmental health specialists to ensure conformance to standardized procedures. Conducts assessments of environmental health complaints, such as illness outbreaks and animal bites Inspects food service establishments, individual sewage disposal systems, swimming pools, and spas for food and environmental health law compliance. Provides technical assistance in the mobilization of resources involving food and environmental sanitation during disasters and emergencies, such as fires and hazardous spills.
