We are currently seeking an innovative individual for a part-time Associate Research Director position to support the Education and Healthcare markets on our Cognitive domain team. Clinical Assessments, the portfolio’s assessment division, is noted for our gold-standard assessment contributions in cognition, memory, neuropsychology, behavior, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, early childhood, personality/psychopathology, and achievement. This part-time (16-19 hours per week), limited term position will be supporting the development of ability measures over the next 1-2 years.The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in academic research and using standardized cognitive assessments with children. This position will report to the Research and Development Manager, and can be remote, or based in our San Antonio, TX, or Bloomington, MN offices.RESPONSIBILITIESThe Associate Research Director is responsible for working with a team of professionals – Research Directors, Product Managers, Content developers, and Digital Developers – to assist in the development of new assessment solutions. Responsibilities include:

Support research and development efforts for cognitive assessment solutions. This may include item and scoring development, data analysis review or implementation, material development and review, piloting and testing new items and materials, and working with technology to help prototype digital item delivery approaches

Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-divisional teams in the development and delivery of digital assessment solutions

Drafting, editing, and finalizing record forms, stimulus books, and manuals. This includes writing manual chapters using standard text templates, providing necessary content information for scoring and reporting software programs, and checking for consistency across different components of the test.

Working with the project team (publishing, psychometrics, project management, software development) to ensure that all components and deliverables, both in print and digital mediums, are prepared in a timely manner to meet the publication schedule.

Conducting literature reviews, and compiling references.

Support commercialization efforts through contribution to product training and product support materials

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in clinical psychology or a related field from a nationally recognized institution of higher education

Doctorate degree preferred

Research experience or training in research implementation.

Experience in test development, or adequate familiarity with assessment practices to substitute for this experience

Minimum 3 years of relevant job experience in clinical psychology or related field

Demonstrated familiarity with assessment practices and psychometric principles

Required Skills

Has strong communication skills (oral, written, and business) and ability to communicate highly complex information to different stakeholders in a way that can be easily understood.

The abilities and mental flexibility to take on various tasks as needed to work as part of a team managing multiple products at various stages of development.

Teamwork mentality: ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary project team

Understands the requirements of working in a business environment and how this may differ from clinical, educational, or academic practice.  

Self-starter: Ability to work independently

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location.
