This position works in the Child Care Licensing Unit and is governed by state and federal laws and agency institution policy. The Specialist work closely with supervisors and other licensing staff. The Specialist will follow all requirements in the Child Care Service Specialist Standard Operating Manual. Initiate, compile and complete reports according to time frames specified by procedures. Develop and maintain an accurate system for tracking pertinent information related to child care licensing. Provide accurate feedback to supervisor regarding assignments. Communicate effectively both oral and written using appropriate grammatically correct business language. Keep supervisor abreast of critical issues in a timely manner. Exhibit cooperative spirit, excellent customer service and professionalism within working with peers, providers, regulatory agencies, and the public. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.FunctionsResearches, analyzes, and interprets state and federal laws and regulations related to assigned programs. Gathers information from appropriate organizations regarding policy recommendations for change. Makes recommendations for policy development and drafts new policies or revises existing policies based on research and analysis. Coordinates policy revision with appropriate legal counsel prior to implementation. Monitors implementation of policy revisions; maintains policy manuals and other supporting documentation, including official notices and waivers.
