Description Robert Half is looking for an achievement-oriented Assistant Controller to join a well-respected company. As the Assistant Controller, you will oversee the day to day of the accounting staff and send reports to the Controller. This is the Assistant Controller position for you if you are a self-starter with a history of successfully identifying issues and resolving problems. Apply as soon as possible! This full-time employment opportunity is based in the Goleta, California area.Key responsibilitiesEncourage implementation and certify adherence to accounting policies and procedures
Direct to ensure a competent, trained staff through goal setting, development, and regular assessment
Be instrumental in the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting
Detect and prepare process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency
Push accountability and the meeting of deliverables
Provide regular account reconciliation to completion
Classify and develop Ad Hoc financial reports
Backfill for Controller where applicable
Exceptional preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits
Additional responsibilities if necessary
Make relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like actual spend against budgets/outlook, the monthly flash report, and key financial metrics
Assist the accounting team during the closing process to assure deadlines are met
Assemble distinct technical accounting analyses, policies, and procedures Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Notable accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred
Foundational knowledge in financial reporting
Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings
Journal entries experience required
Proficiency in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation
Experience with SAP
Certified Public Accounting license or exams in progress
5+ years of general ledger accounting experience
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Deep technical background in public accounting (GAAP)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask effectively
Profound knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
