We are looking for a Data Entry Clerk to type information into our database systems from paper documents and create spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes. The ideal candidate will be computer savvy and a fast typist with a keen eye for detail. You will report to the Controller.
The company will rely on you for having accurate and updated data. The base schedule is 8 am - 12 pm, Monday through Friday, for an average of 20 hours a week (but occasionally up to 30 hours available).
Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or database systems using keyboards and accounting software
Type in data provided directly from production employees
Create spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes
Verify data by comparing it to source documents
Update existing data
Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation
Sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost
Proven experience as data entry clerk
Fast typing skills; knowledge of touch typing system is highly desirable
Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.)
Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices
Basic understanding of databases
Good command of English, both oral and written
Great attention to detail
High school degree or equivalent
Experience in science, especially chemistry, via coursework or a degree is also highly desired although definitely not required; this position may also do data management for our lab but the workload is small for that department ( 1 hr/day).
Must be able to: remain in a stationary position 80-90% of the time; constantly operate a computer and other office machinery; occasionally move about inside the office.
