We’re a Northridge family with two adult autistic children, and their mother is recovering from a serious stroke. The eldest son is 31 with a mental age of 5. The youngest is 29 with a mental age of 15 months. The mother has cognitive and memory issues. She currently has her own 24/7 home care, but there is a need for some supplemental aid and companionship.
This is a full-time hybrid household assistant position that combines housekeeping for the entire house, care-giving and household management. The house-keeping load should be thought of as “heavy” because the house is large and because the youngest son creates a lot of mess and laundry. The caregiving is primarily for the youngest son including light meals, short drives, cleaning and laundry – and secondarily for the mother and elder son. As for household management, we would hope that, over time and depending on your comfort level, you would take a proactive role in running errands, engaging and supervising contractors, ordering groceries and staples, organizing, etc.
