Shop Lead Description:

A crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shop/ manufacturing facility. You are responsible for leading the shop floor, supervising employees while working, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. As the Shop Lead, you will play a vital role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of our fabrication center. You will be responsible for oversight of our team of technicians and welders, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner. This position will also work closely with the purchasing lead to ensure timely purchasing of project necessities and materials.

Shop Lead Responsibilities

Lead our team of technicians/welders, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.

Allocate work assignments to technicians and ensure that work is performed in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.

Monitor and review the progress of work orders, ensuring that deadlines are met and any issues or delays are promptly addressed.

Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and completed repairs to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.

Ensuring a premium quality and standard of product prior to shipping/delivery to client

Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues or problems, providing technical expertise and guidance to technicians as needed.

Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair projects, ensuring that resources, equipment, and materials are available and utilized efficiently.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe and clean working environment for both employees and customers.

Collaborate with other departments or teams, such as parts procurement or customer service, to facilitate smooth workflow.

Shop Lead Required Skills

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.

Mentor all levels of employees to align with the needs of their positions, when necessary

Excellent technical knowledge and expertise in structural design and welding.

Proficient in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues or problems.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities, approach to finding solutions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members.

Sound decision-making skills, with the ability to make informed judgments and handle unexpected situations or challenges.

Customer service mindset with regard to etiquette and service to clients

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Proven experience as a technician/welder with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and procedures.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, compliance standards, and environmental guidelines.

Certification or licensure in relevant areas, such as welding certification, is a plus.

Strong knowledge of shop equipment and tools, including diagnostic equipment and hand tools.

Understanding of Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Word, specifically the spreadsheet software

Experience and knowledge with MRP based software (such as Fulcrum) is a plus
