Installer and Skilled Finish Carpenter/Handyman/Craftsman Needed for Baby Proofing Company as a Part-Time Employee
Looking for an experienced and skilled carpenter, craftsman and handyman to become an installer and assist in the installation services for a Los Angeles-based baby proofing company. Must have transportation (car or truck) and be willing to travel throughout Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. Seeking an installer for Los Angeles County only. We serve a 20-mile or more radius from the West Los Angeles area. This includes West LA, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Malibu, San Fernando Valley, Encino, Sherman Oaks, Calabasas, Valencia, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, etc.
You will be hired as a PART-TIME W-2 EMPLOYEE. The company uses a payroll company and payroll is generated every other week. You will be asked to complete all federal W-4, California State and I-9 paperwork.
Depending on the quantity of jobs scheduled, you may be hired as little as one day per week or as many as five days per week. This could amount to somewhere between 5 hours and 20 hours per week. The hiring of installers depends on the location of the job, nature and scope of the work involved, and number of team members needed on a job. You might be asked to work on a Saturday as well.
Must have all the necessary hand and power tools in excellent, working condition to install a variety of different baby proofing products, including but not limited to gates, mounting pieces, cabinet and drawer latches, furniture brackets and furniture straps, furniture and fireplace edging, cord control and cord management, etc. Knowing how to drill into Plexiglas to be installed on banister railings is a plus.
Baby proofing jobs involve a lot of bending, lifting, crouching, and working on your knees in order to install gates, outlet covers, cabinet and drawer latches, etc. You must be able to move heavy pieces of furniture when securing and bracketing it to the wall. You must be able to think quickly on your feet as some products do not work on every application. Creativity and ingenuity are a must. Attention to detail is essential based on the homes we enter into.
You must be a friendly, loyal and clearly dedicated individual who has an ambition to succeed in any given environment. Must have an excellent work ethic and a positive attitude.
While the company maintains a current Commercial General Liability including Products and Professional Liability policy and will provide employees with a California required Worker’s Compensation Policy, along with social security payments, disability insurance/ benefits, and unemployment insurance benefits, and sick pay as mandated by state and federal law, the company does not provide any vacation pay, extended medical leave, retirement benefits (such as pensions or 403(b) plans), health or medical insurance/benefits, life insurance, or general, professional, personal or automotive insurance. You must maintain all of your own personal insurances and licenses, including by not limited to health insurance, automobile insurance, personal liability coverage, etc.
You must have the ability to read, understand, and follow installation directions in English. Baby proofing product training will be provided. On-site training with the current installation team will occur.
Prior experience installing baby gates, cabinet and drawer latches, furniture straps, furniture brackets and/or working with Plexiglas is a plus.
