We are currently hiring for a Food Microbiologist position in the Salinas area. This position is with a company that has been established for 30 years and which services over 40 countries around the world! The Food Microbiologist position is Full Time and Temp to hire. The schedule will vary (the start times will change and can range anywhere from 9 am start time to 4 pm start time) and will always include at least 1 weekend day. This position will require traveling for 4-6 months of the year. The pay rate for this position is $19.00-$30.00/hr (DOE). If you are qualified and interested, submit a resume asap!
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work independently to utilize cultural and rapid methodologies to identify pathogens, indicators, and spoilage organisms in food, water, and environmental samples
Proactively manage the laboratory personnel to ensure adherence to company protocols and values
Interact with clients by communicating test results, answering questions, and sending sampling supplies based on their needs
Develop, maintain, and measure processes to increase the accuracy of turn-around time for results
Ensure implementation of QA/QC program with regards to all operations and documentation requirements
Provide training to new personnel, as well as coaching and mentoring to facilitate the staff’s professional and personal growth
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
Must have a B.S. in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Biology, or similar
Hands-on lab experience
Knowledge of sterile technique and pure culture maintenance
Must have strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Bilingual English/Spanish would be a plus
Strong time management skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong people skills
Must have a flexible work schedule (weekends, travel, etc…)
