GENERAL SUMMARY: The A&P Mechanic is responsible for inspections, repairs, and overhauls for our piston and turbine aircraft to ensure airworthiness. IFTs aircraft resources meet Part 141 conformity and strict safety standards to ensure a reputable training product for all of our clients, customers and employees.

The A&P Mechanic contributes to aircraft equipment safety by maintaining high standards of workmanship and inspection standards. They are required to inspect, test, and repair aircraft systems, component parts, etc. and certify accomplishment of their work. IFT AMTs may be required to train less experienced employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Repairs, replaces, and inspects aircraft structures and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulics.

2. Reads and interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

3. Examines engines and propeller systems for normal operation and makes adjustments as required.

4. Tests engine operation to locate source of malfunction.

5. Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components such as alternators, magnetos, propellers, ignition systems, fuel systems, etc.

6. Must possess necessary skills to remove engine from aircraft if needed. Inspects parts for wear, damage, defects and serviceability.

7. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.

8. Performs miscellaneous duties such as weight and balance, aircraft servicing to include changing engine oil and filters, cleaning screens, lubricating moving parts, and checking brakes.

9. Complete paperwork for the accomplishment of maintenance.

10. Ensure that the hangar workshops and other areas are maintained in an orderly manner.

11. Assist the Director of Maintenance in maintaining technical manuals in a current status

12. Maintain an adequate tool kit.

13. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of all aspects flight operations.

2. Ability to use personal computer, Microsoft Office programs and Internet.

3. Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely in written and spoken English.

4. Ability to understand verbal and written instructions to facilitate the decision-making process and safety.

5. Ability to communicate effectively with IASCO Flight Training students, management and staff.

6. Ability to plan and prioritize work efficiently.

7. Awareness of IASCO Flight Trainings company culture and country culture of the students.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent, current A&P License and 2 to 3 years previous aircraft maintenance experience preferred.

COMMENTS:

This position requires solid communication, and administration skills; friendly and positive behavior, and a clean and neat appearance. This flight school will operate various hours a week and requires multiple shift work loads.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Diverse environments (buildings are forced air cooled and heated), mild/moderate outdoor exposure to dust, pollen, Avgas and other fumes. Moderate to heavy changes in altitude and temperature and heavy exposure to noise from aircraft engines, and moderate exposure to radiation from the sun.
