This individual would develop architectures, top level design concepts, requirements, and performance modeling for new payload systems and other energetic needs.This position is located in Sacramento, CA .The successful candidate will:Apply and/or develop advanced warhead technologies using scientific principles, theories and concepts to the weapon warhead system for implementation into missilesProvide technical oversight to the subcontractorReview and disposition subcontract data and change requests; prepare and present data to management, government agencies; and project cost account managementSupport the Safety Engineering organization by planning and performing insensitive munitions testing and safety analyses as neededFrequently interface with the Customer to identify user needsManage subcontract suppliers to specify and deliver required subsystem components on schedule and on budgetKey Responsibilities (essential functions):Contribute to technology development roadmapsLead development of design concepts for target defeat mechanisms (warheads)Design, analyze, test and evaluate warhead systemsPerform warhead system/component designProvide technical oversight of subcontracted design activities and technical direction to warhead engineersSupport failure analysis and corrective action through redesign of failed warhead component or systemPresent warhead design models and supporting analyses/test results to internal and customer review meetingsSupport proposals requiring warhead technologiesProvide counsel and mentoring for more junior members of the DepartmentOversee development of Critical Item Development Specifications (CIDS)Oversee fact-finding and contract negotiationsTest data reductionGenerate warhead performance data files for use in performance assessments and requirements complianceEnsure technical rigor and depth of all deliverablesMust be willing to travel to suppliers and government facilitiesTechnical management of subcontracts on Government programsProposal and cost preparation, requirements definition, and warhead subsystems analysis, test and verification; operational test support; supplier collaborationU.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employmentRequired Experience, Skills and Education:A minimum of 10 years of experience in warhead engineering or related (8 years with a MS degree and 6 years with Ph.D.)Must have experience in:Warhead or Energetic Device Design & AnalysesWarhead system or subsystem technology readiness level (TRL) maturation or developmentBachelor of Science in any of the following: General Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Math ,Applied Physics or related engineering degree.U.S. Citizenship is requiredDesired Experience, Skills and Education:12 plus years of directly related experience in warhead subsystems design, development, and testDevelopment of warhead Technical Performance Measures (TPM), Key Product Characteristics (KPC), Key Characteristic Control (KCC)Experiencewith ordnance manufacturing process technologiesExperience with Munitions mitigation technology (design, materials)Supplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW)Experience in business development and technology road mappingDemonstrated success as a team leaderSystems architecture as warhead subsystem designerCo-development of threat defeat requirements from system lethality analyses and validating design lethality implementation in flight simulatorsValidation and verification of lethality elements in system performance modeling from development and qualification tests of subsystemsEngineering design in development projectsProject Management as applied to team interaction and deliverablesDesign and analysis of mechanical subsystemsProficiency with Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Power Point & Project)Advanced engineering degree (M.S., PhD.)166092Raytheon is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
