Dog Walker (or Runner) / Pet Sitter (UTC/Del Mar)

Vacancy expired!

Seeking dog walkers, runners and pet sitters who live in:

-UTC/Del Mar/Carmel Valley

Our company offers two main services, and we are seeking candidates able to provide both:

1) Weekly Dog Walking

Work hours are usually between 9am-3pm, Monday-Friday. Availability during the majority of this time through the summer is required at this time. There might be some gaps in the schedule based on client requests or cancellations, or some morning/evening pet sitting requests, so YOU MUST live in the neighborhoods listed above. Most of your clients will be within 5 miles from your house, and if a they need a last minute visit or emergency, it does not work if you are across town. This position is ideal for someone with a flexible work schedule (like a freelancer), or a student with morning or night classes.

2) Vacation Pet Sitting: Overnights and Check-ins

Overnight visits: usually start between 6:30pm and 8pm, depending on your schedule and the client's needs, and last no less than 12 hours. You are always welcome to "move in", and stay longer than 12 hours if your schedule allows, however it is not required, to accommodate if you have another job during daytime business hours or if we schedule you for other pet sitting check-in visits throughout the day. Most of our clients have comfortable home environments, and they always appreciate any extra time spent with their pets as possible.

Check-in visits: 30 or 60 minutes, occur throughout the day (usually from 7am to 8pm), which could include dog walks, cat care, feedings, etc.

Job requirements:

Available 9am-3pm Monday through Friday.

Willing to sleep away from home for an extended period of time, especially during the holidays. We get extremely booked up on weekends, during the summer, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (24th and 25th), so priority will be given to candidates who can commit to overnights during those times.

Experienced working with dogs and cats in a professional setting or has raised pets on their own.

Genuinely passionate and intuitive about animals.

A prompt communicator, able to respond in a timely fashion via text, phone call, or email.

Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual. Detail oriented, as each of your clients will have different requests regarding their pets and their homes

Fit. Able to work with dogs of all sizes and (non-human aggressive) temperaments, and not allergic to cats.

Independent. We have a strict policy that we won't bring anyone into the client's home that they and their pets have not met. Unless explicitly agreed upon, you are not to invite guests with you to routes or overnight stays.

Must live in one of the neighborhoods listed above.

Able to pass a criminal background check.

Able to email updates and photos to clients from a smart phone

Owns reliable transportation with clean driving record and proof of liability auto insurance.

Preferred: Familiar with working as a 1099 Independent Contractor.

Compensation:

Overnight visits: start at $50.00 per 12-hour overnight, (including sleep time).

Check-in visits: start at $12.00 for a 30-minute route, or $15 for a 60 minute route.

EXTRA HOLIDAY PAY

Extra pay is earned for any check-in or overnight that starts on:

Easter

Memorial Day

4th of July

Labor Day

Thanksgiving Day

Christmas Eve

Christmas Day

New Years Eve

New Years Day

Holiday pay is 50% higher than regular pay.

PLEASE NOTE The hours and pay of this position are not "steady". We are at the whim of our client's plans. Sometimes clients cancel a trip at the last minute, sometimes pets pass away the day before the job begins (yes, this has happened), and sometimes a friend of the client agrees to pitch in at the last minute. But in general, once you're booked for a job, you can count on it. The more availability you have, the more money you can earn. This position could become close to full-time if you don't have other schedule conflicts.

To apply:

-Respond to this ad with a message telling us a little bit about yourself and expressing why you think you'd be a good fit for this position.

-Provide your Name and address (or nearest cross streets)

-Provide a resume if you have one (though no professional pet experience is required)

Thank you!
