Primary Function

The primary function of this role is to successfully complete project estimates while maintaining healthy relationships with clients, architects and our own team. This is done by executing a high level of organization, communication, and commitment.

Assemble subcontractor questions and prepare RFI’s.

Prepare Submittals, Warranties and O&M’s

Follow up with subcontractors on bids through phone calls.

Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing.

Order prints and distribute bid documents to subcontractors.

Manage and maintain subcontractors’ list.

Communicate subcontractor bid results.

Communicate occasionally with Owner/ Architect/ Construction Manager.

Set up conference calls as needed.

Protect confidentiality of sensitive information.

Demonstrate efficient productivity, strong attention to accuracy and detail.

Work well under pressure and tight timelines.

Adapt quickly to changing priorities and shifting timelines.

Demonstrate superior customer service skills.

Anticipate manager’s needs and taking initiative.

Conduct self in a professional manner.

Expertly perform the duties of a Construction Estimator.

Performing quantitative takeoffs on construction projects.

Successfully manages/directs multiple bid projects simultaneously with large budgets and extensive, complex challenges.

Education, Knowledge, and Skills:

The primary skills required for this position are construction knowledge, sequencing, relationship management both in the office, and with clients and project teams. Employee should have a working knowledge of most of the trades and be able to problem solve issues that arise throughout the course of the bid process.

The main technical skill required for this position is hyper organization and high output. The employee should be able to keep many varying parts and pieces of multiple bids organized through a suite of software tools as well as notes and bid books. The typical Estimator works on multi-million-dollar proposals concurrently, requiring high efficiency of task management, the ability to confirm multiple subcontractor scopes, and coordination of large amounts of data.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

Must have skilled knowledge of estimating techniques, software and databases.

Sharp understanding of bidding process.

Ability to visualize various building techniques.

A clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught.

Customer service skills, such as able to work with customers and build strong relationships.

Some proven, real world experience in Construction Estimating, Management or Administration.

Demonstrated decision-making abilities in a high production environment, including strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

Field and prior experience is a plus.

Valid driver’s license with a clean record is a plus.

Qualifications

Estimating, Management or Administration: 2 years (Preferred)

Associate or Bachelors Degree in Construction or related field (Preferred)

English (Required)

US work authorization (Required)

Construction Experience: 2 years (Preferred)
