Insalata’s Restaurant is looking for a pastry assistant to join our team. Hours are from 6 A.M. to 2:30 P.M., minimum 32 hours per week, to include weekend days and some holidays. This position will involve creating breads and plated desserts for our Mediterranean restaurant as well as providing cookies, tea breads, cakes, and puddings for our busy take-out department and for outside catering.
Responsibilities
Prepare a variety of baked goods to industry standard.
Assist in morning duties to include baking yeasted breads and cookies.
Prepare a variety of baked goods and dessert components to include cookie doughs, cakes, tarts, custards, dessert sauces, tea breads, granola, etc.
Requirements
One year industry experience or culinary certification in production baking
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to follow verbal instruction and written recipes in English
Current Food Handlers certification
Ability to use Imperial and Metric weight and volume measurements
Bread baking experience and/or education/certification
Ability to follow industry standard organization and cleaning practices
