Penny Roma restaurant (part of the Flour + Water Hospitality Group, also home to Flour + Water, Flour + Water Pasta Shop, Flour + Water Pizzeria, and Trick Dog) is a fun, lively neighborhood restaurant in San Francisco's Mission district that creates thoughtfully prepared Italian-inspired food, using locally-sourced ingredients from Northern California.

The heart of Penny Roma’s menu is pasta, inspired by tried and true classics from all over Italy, using seasonal ingredients sourced from our favorite local farms and purveyors. Our wine list is eccentric yet unpretentious and approachable, balancing classic and natural wines from Italy, California and unique growing regions from around the world.

We are currently seeking a strong, career-minded Server/Shift Manager to join our outstanding team. The Server/Shift Manager position provides an opportunity to develop management skills in a fast-paced, driven environment in one of the greatest food cities in the world. This multifaceted position is a hybrid Server/Supervisor position, and is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious individual who wants to get to the next level in their restaurant career.

Our Shift Manager role is responsible for working the floor and leading by example as a server, as well as assisting the GM in managing, developing and inspiring our staff, and helping to define the success and culture of our restaurant.

Server/ Shift Manager Qualifications:

-Evening and weekend shifts are required - please do not apply if you are not available nights and weekends!

-Minimum three-years' experience in fast-paced fine dining establishments, with a strong desire and interest in management (some management or leadership experience preferred, but not required)

- Experience with Northern Californian and/or Italian cuisine, and regularly changing menus

- Deep understanding of and interest in wine, especially natural winemaking techniques

- Excellent leadership skills with a warm and engaging personality

- A natural ability to provide and inspire genuine, refined and hospitable service

- Excellent communication and multitasking skills

- Desire to learn and be involved in the financial side of the business

- Strong computer skills including Word, Excel and G-Suite, as well as an understanding of and interest in social media

- Experience with Toast and Resy, or similar systems

- Ability to create and implement systems that work for both management and staff

- Follow through on assigned tasks, and ability to manage long term projects

- Passion for and understanding of the current local food scene

Compensation for Serving shifts is $18.07/hour + tips. Tips average approx. $250-300 per shift, although this is just an average and may be more or less depending on the night's service. Compensation for Shift Manager shifts is $32/hour and is untipped.
