Overview:
The shipping assistant is responsible for supporting the shipping and receiving operations, ensuring that all products and materials are accurately packed, labeled, and shipped in a timely manner. The role involves handling and preparing items, maintaining shipping records, and collaborating with various departments to meet customer and internal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Packing and Shipping:
Prepare and pack products for shipment according to specific customer orders and company standards.
Ensure all packages are labeled correctly and include the necessary shipping documents.
Operate packaging equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
2.Receiving and Inspection:
Receive incoming materials, unpack, and inspect for
for accuracy and quality.
Verify the received items against purchase orders and
delivery documents.
Report any discrepancies or damaged items to the
Shipping Supervisor.
3. Inventory Management:
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records
through regular stock checks and updates.
Organize and store received items in designated
areas within the warehouse.
Coordinate with the inventory team to ensure stock
levels are maintained and accurate.
4. Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain detailed records of shipments, including
dates, tracking numbers, and contents.
Update shipping logs and databases to reflect out
going and incoming shipments.
Prepare shipping documentation such as bills of
lading, invoices, and packing lists.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, or warehouse role,
Preferably in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
Familiarity with shipping software, including international shipping
and inventory management systems.
Basic understanding of shipping regulations and procedures.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to lift and move heavy packages.
