Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time; Remote with option to work in San Francisco, Burlingame, or Redwood City office

Experience Level: 1-3 Years

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Family Law Attorney to join our established law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area. The ideal candidate will have a background in family law, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping clients navigate sensitive and complex legal issues.

Primary Responsibilities of the Junior Associate Attorney:

- Represent family law clients in court for settlement conferences, motion hearings, status conferences, and trial.

- Prepare court pleadings, including for divorce cases, child custody matters, and related issues such as property valuation, characterization, and division, child and spousal support, and other financial matters including business valuations.

- Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients in a professional and effective manner.

- Communicate clearly, consistently, and discreetly with clients, other lawyers on the case, experts, consultants, the court, etc.

- Assist attorneys with mediation cases.

- Support attorneys with prioritization of tasks and various deadlines.

- Attend networking events to represent the law firm as agreed upon (this will be an infrequent task).

- Work collaboratively with other lawyers and staff.

- The firm’s attorneys primarily work from home with days in the office as needed for client meetings, deadlines, and to direct staff. A more permanent or hybrid office arrangement could be made available for the incoming candidate.

- The lead attorney has been practicing family law in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 2 decades as a litigator and trained mediator.

Qualifications:

- Have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

- Licensed to practice law in California and should have 1 to 3 years of family law experience.

- Candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to skillfully draft motions, pleadings, letters, memos, and other documents.

- Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally charged situations with professionalism and empathy.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills.

- Excellent research skills, and preferred experience with DissoMaster and WestLaw or Lexis.

- Commitment to ethical practice of the law and possessing high level of integrity.
