Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Wine Sales Specialist to join our small team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine, excellent customer service skills, and a desire to share their knowledge with our customers. This role involves engaging with customers, assisting them in selecting wines that suit their tastes and needs, and contributing to the overall ambiance of our shop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and engage customers, offering personalized wine recommendations based on their preferences and occasion.
- Educate customers about various wines, including their origins, production methods, flavor profiles, and food pairings.
- Assist in maintaining a well-organized and visually appealing shop, including stocking shelves, arranging displays, and ensuring a clean environment.
- Handle sales transactions, including processing payments and managing cash register operations.
- Participate in inventory management, including receiving shipments, conducting inventory counts, and updating product listings.
- Assist in organizing and hosting wine tastings and other in-store events.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in the wine industry and continuously expand product knowledge.
- Foster a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that encourages customers
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in retail or wholesale wine sales is required. Please include cover letter detailing your past sales roles and what gets you out of bed in the morning from a wine perspective.
- Strong knowledge of wine varieties, regions, and food pairings, bonus points for knowledge of Spanish wines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Availability during the upcoming hectic holiday season
- A passion for wine and a desire to learn and share knowledge with others.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings. Must be available Saturdays, preferably Sundays as well.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry wine cases weighing up to 40 pounds.
