Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lapping Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. Responsibilities:
Lapping Machine Operation:
Set up, operate, and maintain lapping machines to achieve precise flatness, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy.
Select appropriate lapping compounds, abrasives, and tools based on material and required finish.
Adjust machine settings, such as pressure, speed, and lapping time, to optimize results and meet specifications.
Material Preparation and Inspection:
Inspect workpieces before and after lapping to ensure they meet specified tolerances and surface finish requirements.
Measure and verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and profilometers.
Prepare and clean workpieces, ensuring they are free from contaminants that could affect the lapping process.
Quality Control:
Monitor the lapping process to ensure consistency and quality of the finished products.
Identify and troubleshoot issues related to surface finish, flatness, or dimensional accuracy, making necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.
Document inspection results and maintain records of lapping operations, ensuring traceability and compliance with quality standards.
Machine Maintenance and Calibration:
Perform routine maintenance on lapping machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and calibration, to ensure optimal performance.
Replace worn or damaged parts and tools as needed, coordinating with maintenance personnel for more complex repairs.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols and best practices.
Safety and Compliance:

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in machining is preferred.
Proven experience as a machinist, with specific expertise in lapping processes.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining lapping machines and related equipment.
Strong understanding of surface finish, flatness, and dimensional tolerances.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
