The Acme Bread Company is looking for full time delivery drivers to join our Berkeley division. The Acme Bread Company is open every day of the year, except for Christmas Day which means that working weekends and overtime are required. The ideal candidate is a quick learner and proactive.
Most duties revolve around delivering fresh bread each day in a safe, timely, and accurate manner. This generally includes but is not limited to counting bread, loading the truck in the morning, making bread deliveries to grocery stores and restaurants around the East Bay, North Bay and the San Francisco Area using company vehicles, etc. Because Acme Bread Drivers serve as liaisons to our customers and to the general public, we expect drivers to conduct their business and drive their routes obeying company policies and all traffic laws while being courteous and professional to the stakeholders they encounter throughout the day.
General Requirements
Good verbal and written communication skills in English
Ability to work well with others and to be customer service focused
Must be able to work early mornings, weekends and holidays
Agreeable to work schedule that will change from week to week
Agreeable to work overtime as needed
Ability to drive a 16ft box truck
Must show proof of Valid CA DL & Clean DMV Records. Class C license is OK.
Must be legally eligible to work in the US
Reliable, and punctual
Strong organizational skills
Must have a reliable phone line with voicemail
Spanish Speaking is a Plus
Physical Requirements:
Ability to see 20/40 with both eyes together, with or without corrective lenses, in order to safely operate and work around a dynamic work environment with heavy equipment like ovens, mixers, racks, bins, etc.
Must be able to quickly, repeatedly, and safely, reach, grab, grip, and lift individual rolls and loaves of bread (up to 4.5 pounds), moving them from one tray to another and/or placing them into bread bags or onto shelves or racks at a customer’s location
Must be able to repeatedly and safely bend/reach, grab, turn, and lift, full bread trays (up to 25 pounds) onto and off of stacks, from ground level to 5 feet high and the reverse, and into and out of the delivery trucks onto and off of the built-in racks.
Must be able to safely grab, pull, or push fully loaded stacks of bread trays, which can weigh up to 300lbs and require up to 50lbs of force, through the bakery to their proper location or back and forth between the delivery truck and the customer’s location.
Wages and Benefits (For full time positions):
Starting wage $22.62
