Engineer/ Maintenance

The engineer I will provide Four Diamond service with attention to detail, quality, and consistency. The engineer maintains the facilities, equipment, and guestrooms of the hotel in impeccable condition at all times by consistently implementing our preventative maintenance program, regular equipment maintenance, upkeep of facilities and ensuring building safety.

STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS:

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

1) Possess a positive, outgoing and friendly personality.

2) Understands systems: plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, fire, life, safety, kitchen and laundry.

3) Has one year or more of field experience in plumbing, carpentry, cosmetic repairs, air conditioning, refrigeration, hot water systems, swimming pool maintenance, electricity, electronics, small appliance repair, laundry repairs, or construction background.

4) Average knowledge of trades including soldering, brazing, welding, proper wiring methods, proper techniques for cosmetic and furniture repairs.

5) Ability to apply basic concepts of geometry and do conversions of various units of measure.

6) Must have a basic knowledge of electronics, electrical circuits, wiring, HVAC and hydraulics.

7) Ability to learn and retain what you have learned and apply it to the job at hand.

8) Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

9) Ability to troubleshoot problems, evaluate situations, and determine effective and efficient resolutions.

10) Ability to properly use a wide variety of tools, including power tools.

11) Exercise good judgment and be a clear thinker in pressure situations.

12) Ability to focus and give attention to details.

13) Ability to follow directions and work without direct daily supervision.

14) Ability to work well with a team.

Desirable:

1) Experience in the hospitality industry or equivalent.

2) Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

3) Knowledge of proper chemical handling.

4) Basic ability to communicate in the English language. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

5) Understanding of different types of personal protective equipment (PPE) and when to use them.

6) Higher level education and/or experience in trades such as: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, appliance repair, painting and drywall.

7) CPR certification.

8) Certified lift operator (forklift, scissor lift, boom lift)

9) CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certificate.

10) EPA 608 universal certification.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

2) Respond to guest complaints and perform the required corrective maintenance in an efficient manner.

3) Perform maintenance throughout the property, following schedules for guestroom preventative maintenance, equipment maintenance and facilities upkeep.

4) Follow up with guests, mangers and fellow associates regarding the status of your work.

5) Efficiently process and prioritize tasks.

6) Remain attentive to guests, continually serving them to exceed their expectations.

7) Remain calm and courteous in difficult situations, resolve issues when possible and report to supervisor.

8) Display work habits that promote accident prevention.

9) Adhere to health department sanitation and safety regulations.

10) Understand fire, life and safety procedures, shut off valves, fire control panel, etc.

11) Handle chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.

12) Ensure equipment is functioning properly.

13) Report housekeeping needs to executive housekeeper promptly.

14) Communicates to the Director of Engineering / Supervisor the need for tools, supplies, materials or training to enable the execution of exceptional work.

15) Maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.

16) Ensure security of guest rooms and hotel property, including assigned keys and communication devices.
