In this vital role you will provide administrative and paralegal support for patent-related matters under the supervision of an attorney and in coordination with other paralegals.The position is preferably based at Amgen’s corporate headquarters campus in Thousand Oaks, California. The position may also be located at Amgen San Francisco or Amgen Boston and is open to remote applicants as well.Position Responsibilities

Prepare patent family trees, claim charts, and monitor patent filings

Document organization for oppositions, Inter Partes Reviews, interferences, and preparatory global litigation work and maintain other filing systems (including electronic databases such as Anaqua);

Draft correspondence and engagement letters, obtain case law, organize materials, and assemble binders;

Schedule meetings including video conferences, coordinating travel arrangements, and utilizing on-line services (document orders, shipping, office supplies, and expense reports);

Track budgetary spend and invoices;

Set-up case watches, prepare PowerPoint presentations, word processing, copy, scan;

Interact with outside counsel, internal counsel, paralegals, and scientists

Additional Responsibilities may include:

Assist with the preparation, filing (including e-filing), prosecution, and maintenance of US and foreign patent applications. The paralegal may prepare draft correspondence; obtain references, patents, and file histories; set-up files and databases; and prepare prosecution documents such as IDS, assignments, and powers of attorney, and proo documents

The professional we seek is an individual with these qualifications.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degreeOrAssociate’s degree and 4 years of legal experienceOrHigh school diploma / GED and 6 years of legal experiencePreferred Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in a law firm and/or corporate law department

Patent prosecution and/or patent litigation experience in an administrative or paralegal position or litigation experience in a paralegal role, preferably in a law firm or corporate law department

Paralegal certification

Strong communication and organization skills

Ability to pay close attention to detail, effectively prioritize tasks, and concurrently manage several projects

Resourceful, creative, flexible, and a great teammate

Experience with USPTO and EPO websites and litigation management software systems

Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and knowledge of SharePoint
