Based in the Upland, California area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. Candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, will be preferred for this position. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
Requirements
Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Financial statement preparation experience desired
Adeptness in Job Cost
Strong familiarity with construction
Expertise in Month-end Reports
Construction Industry experience preferred
CPA/MBA a plus but not required
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business-related field
Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
