About us: IGNITE Collective is a dedicated nonprofit organization that passionately serves adults with disabilities. We are committed to empowering our community by providing comprehensive support to all, particularly those who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices to express themselves.

Position Overview: As a trained Communication Partner you will support individuals throughout their days and in their lives, not only with communication, but also with their larger goals. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate robust communication between the individual and the world around them. You will work closely with our assistant program director of communication and clients to learn and implement effective strategies that promote meaningful communication.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish strong rapport and trust with clients to create a comfortable communication environment that encourages individuals to express themselves

Assist clients in navigating and effectively using their AAC devices, specialized software, and communication boards

Collaborate with the assistant program director of communication to develop personalized communication plans

Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance your skills in augmentative and alternative communication.

Maintain records of client progress and communicate regularly with supervisor

Qualifications:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A genuine desire to help adults with disabilities achieve effective communication

Openness to learning and implementing various AAC strategies and technologies

Ability to adapt to individual client needs and preferences

Willingness to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals

Looking for 6 months or more commitment

Associate degree (preferred)

Personal or professional experience with individuals with disabilities is a plus, but not a requirement- we are all here to learn

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: Rates start at $20 and are increased to $24 after training and placement.
