Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is looking for a Project Controller to oversee the financials of our large-scale projects. This candidate will perform project monitoring and data collection to determine if a project is progressing according to budget. This may include conducting project audits, managing project schedules, and overseeing regulatory compliance issues. This position may also be authorized to make or approve project expenditures.
This position requires the candidate to act as consultants to project management teams or manage accounting departments. This position may also serve as liaisons between management and clients or between the finance department and project managers. This position also performs financial research, manage a project's general ledger, and/or monitor a project's cash flow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:
Review project budget and deadlines with project manager
Coordinate payments to vendors and subcontractors.
Process expense reimbursement
Monitor project to ensure it meets budget guidelines.
Generate accounting reports at the end of the project.
Oversee auditing of project financials when necessary.
Manage the overall accounting function (GL/ AP / AR / payroll etc.) and supervise staff. Position reports to the CFO
Prepare balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements.
Work closely with operations to build reports and analyze business trends.
Assist with quarterly reviews, annual audit, and tax return preparation.
Review expenses and payroll records
Assist in preparing weekly KPI reports.
Prepare and submit weekly/monthly closing reports for our investors.

Education and/or Experience/Skills Required:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
5+ years of relevant accounting or finance experience
CPA, CMA, MBA certification desired. Experience working for DoD equity portfolio is also desired.
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Attention to detail.
Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Capable of conveying complex information in a simplistic manner.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Able to take proactive measures to prevent problems rather than reactive by nature.
Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weigh up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.
