Sr. Application Developer, Evernorth Health Services

Responsibilities included:

Responsible for developing high caliber design, development and technical leadership talent and managing skill set and competency

Partners with Requirements and Solution Architecture to define analysis and design strategies and set of artifacts that will be delivered in support of various initiatives

Accountable for the quality, accuracy and traceability to requirements and application design for all developed design artifacts.

Accountable for the definition and implementation of any design or development frameworks to simplify software solutions and encourage reuse

Accountable for defining design and development standards and best practices for all technology domains and governing adherence to those standards and best practices

Accountable for development activities across all technology domains and the quality and alignment to design for all code

Responsible for the definition of unit test guidelines and oversight to ensure adherence to those guidelines

Accountable for impact analysis to design and development

Responsible for providing or seeking out trusted analytical and technical "hands-on" leadership

Accountable for end-to-end solutions and identifying software dependencies in support of delivery, release and change management

Responsible for the ensuring adherence to Cigna IT’s integrated solution delivery framework, including the selection of tools and processes, requirements traceability, unit test definition and coverage, quality control, defect management, version control, continuous integration, build packaging, change management, configuration management and release management

Responsible for solving design and software engineering problems and technical issues and communicating resolutions with other solution domains

Provides technical input and solution knowledge to QA in support of test strategy and planning

Provides technical support and solution knowledge to QA in support of Test Strategy and Plan, Test Execution, Defect Triage and Prioritization

Accountable for ensuring that defects and software issues are resolved with quality and integrity and fixes are delivered per agreed upon schedules

Accountable for technical instructions in support of software deployment, configuration management, release management and implementation activities

Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal skills including but not limited to: problem solving, decision making, influencing, change management, written and oral communications along with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

Ability to navigate highly matrix organization effectively

Experience in full life cycle, enterprise-level application architecture, development and integration, and designing and delivering multi-tier applications

Proven success in large-scale implementations involving complex corporate environments, leveraging variety systems on multiple platforms.

Strong strategic vendor on-shore, off-shore and near-shore engagements

Extensive knowledge in data warehousing

Hands on experience with DB2/Mainframe systems is a must.

Experience in software development using Agile methodology is preferred

10 years of years of experience in IT roles with demonstrated progression into leadership roles

Working knowledge of Medical Insurance industry is preferred

Bachelor or higher degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically ten or more years' experience in a systems quality environment, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Strong grounding in software development lifecycle with firm understanding of release planning and estimating

Proven ability to work with senior leaders, customers, developers and other technical staff

Experience with project management disciplines and methodology
