Inventory Control Coordinator

Description Summary:This position is accountable and responsible for the effective management and control of the Materials Management owned inventories and any related activity. Primary areas of concentration include establishing and maintaining accuracy of the Lawson system as it pertains to inventory information, setting supply levels to adequately meet the patient and support care needs of Danbury Hospital and minimizing the inventory investment of Danbury Hospital.Responsibilities:

Management, control & performance of inventory management activities for assigned inventories. Areas not limited to Warehouse, Distribution Center, OR/MM services, other services to be developed (possible future: Food Services, Facilities, Pharmacy).

Accountable management & control of assigned inventory levels which allows for supply needs while minimizing the Hospital's investment in on-hand inventories. These activities include but not be limited to setting minimum & maximum levels.

Also includes monitoring stockouts, establishing replenishment criteria, monitoring turnover ratios, preparing for anticipated usage, being adequately prepared for disaster & emergency situations.

Also includes maintaining Item Master information in Lawson System, assuring accuracy of Lawson systems on hand quantities & other activities as required.

Interfaces with departments, areas and units within Danbury Hospital on inventory issues as they related to assigned areas. Acts in a consultative manner on inventory issues, when requested.

Participates in the development and implementation of short, medium & long range plans regarding assigned areas.

Maintains a high degree of teamwork and cooperation within assigned areas, among other Materials Management areas, among other departments, subsidiaries & units of Danbury Hospital.

Participates in the planning and control of financial factors of assigned areas such as budgets, patient charges, invoices & related discrepancies & expenditures.

Utilizes automated support systems (Lawson) to gather information that aids in the development of decisions and actions. Support of these systems will include an active role in enhancing the quality, utilization & scope of information to be covered.

Participates productively on assigned committees, joint Danbury Hospital projects and ventures & other activities that contribute to the benefit of Danbury Hospital.

Maintains the highest degree of ethical conduct in dealings with vendors and others who provide goods & services to Danbury Hospital, either directly or indirectly.

Adheres to Danbury Hospital guidelines on hospitality and customer service by treating all individuals with respect, courtesy & empathy in all situations.

Provides a clean, safe working environment for assigned staff.

Prepares and provides periodic special reports as required & requested.

Understanding & operating areas of responsibility in compliance with Danbury Hospital, State, Joint Commission & federal safety policies.

Cross train and assist when necessary in the Material Coordinators position.

Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Achieves the organization�s established expectations regarding quality service and team work in support of customers and their service needs.

Picks up and delivers supplies, equipment, materials, mail, business and finance materials, banking requirements, specimens and other related items in accordance with a required schedule, work assignment methodology or assignment of responsibilities through management.

Ensures through actions or by communication to management the proper working order and responsibility for safe and compliant operation of hospital vehicles including but not limited to repairs, maintenance, cleanliness, tire replacement, registration, emissions, insurance, other related activities, etc.

Performs vehicle inspections to ensure safety.

Documents activities in accordance with management requirements.

Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENTOther Information:Required: Requires knowledge of automated Materials Management Systems, accounting process, inventory control techniques, supply distribution methods. General computer literacy: Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel required. Minimum Experience: three yearsValid CT or NY Driver�s License (with clean driving record)Desired: A minimum of three or more years of job related experience is required. Associates or Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, health care administration or related field of study preferred.
