We are committed to graduating transformational leaders who will respond to global and ecological challenges in an interconnected world marked by profound change.Fairfield Prep is currently seeking qualified candidates who are energetic and passionate educators for a full-time position as the Athletic Director.The Athletic Director is responsible for using the Jesuit, Catholic mission and identity of Fairfield Prep to lead the overall operations, supervision and coordination of the interscholastic sports program. The Athletic Director reports to the Principal and directly supervises the Assistant Athletic Director, Athletics Operations Assistant, and Athletic Trainer. Responsibilities of this position include:

Plan, coordinate and execute the interscholastic sports program, including:

Supervise and evaluate all personnel within the Athletic Department, including full time staff and all coaches.

Form members of the coaching staff in our Jesuit, Catholic identity in collaboration with the Dean of Mission & Ministry.

Recommend to the President and Principal the annual reappointment of all personnel and recommending the hiring of qualified replacements when coaching vacancies occur.

Supervise the gymnasium, locker rooms, weight room and/or other recreation facilities used by Prep’s athletic teams on and off campus in collaboration with Athletic staff and coaches.

Ensure athletic supplies and equipment are maintained in good working order, accounted for and safely stored.

Oversee medical and training policies for coaches and athletes.

Coordinate end of season athletic award process.

Serve as the official host to all visiting coaches and teams and provide them with locker rooms and access to other needs.

Serve as the official spokesperson of the Athletic Department on athletic matters.

Represent Fairfield Prep at all meetings, including SCC and CIAC meetings.

Supervise student fans at athletic events in collaboration with the Assistant Deans of Students,

Act as the liaison with Fairfield University personnel for the scheduling, preparation, use and maintenance of playing fields, courts and locker rooms.

Arrange the game and practice schedules for all levels of all sports including:

Coordinate the transportation of sports teams to and from contests.

Schedule officials for all interscholastic contests.

Prepare and distribute school rosters for Prep’s website, CIAC website and post season submission.

Monitor the athletics social media account and social media accounts of all athletic teams in collaboration with the Communications Department.

Ensure adequate medical and security coverage at all contests.

Schedule the weight room for team use.

Ensure that all members of athletic teams meet the CIAC and Fairfield Prep’s eligibility requirements, including maintaining all records necessary for interscholastic sports at Prep and ensuring all documents required by the CIAC have been prepared and submitted.

Other Duties:

Prepare and implement the Athletic Department budget in conjunction with the Business Office.

Attend all home athletic events and be responsible for selecting gate personnel and collection of gate receipts.

Sell pre-sale tickets for all State Tournaments home games and return unused tickets and remit revenue to CIAC.

Maintain the Athletic Handbook and Ensure that it is kept current.

Ensure that coaches’ information relating to employment applications, background checks, stipend, etc. is complete and received timely.

Submit official’s paperwork for payment of services on a timely basis.

The Athletic Director will also serve as a member of other teams / committees as assigned by the Principal and will attend appropriate USA East Jesuit Province and Jesuit Schools Network meetings.Qualifications for Position:

Candidates must have at least five years of experience in athletics in a high school setting

Candidates must hold at least a BA degree; MA preferred

Candidates must have experience with, or be familiar with, the Jesuit ideals
