Job Description:
The Homecare Accountant / Financial Clerk will be responsible for handling all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting. This role will include managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll, budgeting, and assisting with financial analysis to support informed decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
Prepare and process payroll, verifying employee hours, deductions, and taxes.
Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accounting software.
Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other accounts regularly.
Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting to support agency growth and resource planning.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax and labor laws.
Support annual audits and liaise with external accountants and auditors as needed.
Work closely with management to provide financial insights and recommendations.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably in a healthcare or homecare setting.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.
Skills:
o Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
o Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks experience is a plus) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
o Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Requirements:
o Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
o Ability to pass a background check
o Familiarity with healthcare or homecare billing practices is an advantage
