A Unique Educational Experience for Your Family this July/up to $1400 (NY-CT-MA)

Vacancy expired!

We are looking for host families in the North East interested in hosting an international student this summer for 3 or 4 weeks. Students come from Europe, are 13 to 17 years old, have at least an intermediate level of English and are expected to share all aspects of their cultural background with their host families. They are motivated, polite and eager to learn. They bring their own pocket money and they are fully insured. They are well-behaved, speak an intermediate-high level of English, and have been pre-screened.

Families receive a stipend of $700 for four weeks to help cover living, food and a/p transportation costs. Families can sometimes host up to 2 students from different nationalities when available at the same time, so compensation in this case can reach $1,400 for 4 weeks.

Host families can have teens or young children, be single parent households, empty-nesters and even couples with no children but must have an adult always at home. Families should be active and always speak English. As the students do not attend school or camp, families are asked to treat students like members of their own families and involve them in all home activities, excursions and day-to-day chores. Most importantly, they are expected to provide a stable, safe and caring environment.

There are many advantages to hosting:

It's a short time-frame, 3 or 4 weeks, in July and August. Students adjust their travel dates to their

families availability during the summer time. Many families use this opportunity as a test before hosting a high school exchange student.

It can make your summer plans more interesting for the entire family (some of our families even choose to travel with their students).

It's a great cross-cultural experience to help your family gain a deeper understanding of other cultures and can lead to lifelong friendships.

Hosting international students can be cited in resumes and college applications to demonstrate

intercultural experience.

If you think you may be interested in hosting a USAI international student this summer please fill out a host family questionnaire at http://usaimmersion.org/host-family-registration/host-registration/ and we will contact you right away. Or you can respond to this post by email or contact us at 347-746-9015. Thank you.
