Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range
$146,600.00 - $241,800.00

What Is the Opportunity?
Travelers is seeking a AVP, Product Coach to join our organization to help grow and transform our Product practices. As a Product Coach, you will be responsible for mentoring, training and coaching product owners and teams in applying modern product management principles and practices within their agile environment. The individual will be partnering with product leaders helping them to define product roadmaps and connect iterative discovery, delivery, and validation, develop a cadence for continuous learning, and look for areas to further adopt product thinking. Individual will demonstrate courage to challenge and advise teams and stakeholders, including senior leadership, enable teams to realize objectives and deliver on OKRs, assess and enhance Agile maturity of teams, and effectively integrate both internal and external learnings necessary to reinforce Agile growth at Travelers.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • As a servant leader and change agent, you will coach individuals and teams across a large or complex business area to adopt modern product management principles, values and practices while role modeling Travelers' leadership behaviors.
  • Provide coaching, best practices, and influence teams, product owners, and leaders on their product strategies, roadmaps and backlogs
  • Partner with business leaders on agile efforts and provide guidance/strategic assistance on shifting to or enhancing their product model
  • Facilitate workshops/learning sessions around topics such as: product discovery, opportunity mapping, product validation, framing, epic, feature & story mapping, retrospectives, etc.
  • Understand and support implementation of OKRs to optimize delivery of value through the assessment of responsiveness, quality, productivity, and customer and business value.
  • Coach product managers and product owners using your expertise in product development and management to become better product thinkers and leaders.
  • Define communication strategy which advocates Product Management principles and practices, Agile principles, engages different roles and leaders in the Product journey
  • Developing the Product training material and learning offering so it is fit for purpose and meets the needs of Travelers at an individual and team level.
  • Deliver training, covering the principles, practices, tools and techniques of the Product learning offering
  • Measuring using empirical data to continuously improve delivery of training / coaching
  • Supporting teams to use evidence gathered after each delivery to continuously, improve product learning, validate the roadmap and help drive conversations regarding the next best investment for the product.
  • Maintaining a community of practice through education and engagement with the wider product community
  • Contribute to internal and external Product communities to stay abreast of challenges, leading practices, and emerging trends; utilize learnings in furthering the effective use of modern product management practices at Travelers.
  • Use coaching techniques that increase collaboration, transparency and promote a culture of experimentation and innovation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience as a Product coach required
  • 5 years of product management across the full product lifecycle experience required.
  • 3 years of Agile delivery experience required.
  • 5 years of business and/or technology related experience required
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of different scaling methodologies, product mindset and influencing senior leaders and executives to promote and apply product mindset within the organization


Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 5-7 years Agile experience preferred
  • 3 years of experience championing organizational change initiatives preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in product management across the full product development lifecycle with exposure to a wide array of technologies, methodologies and business environments.
