Global Specialty Performance Analytics Consultant GS Data Science & AnalyticsPosition DescriptionThe Hartford’s Global Specialty Performance Analytics organization is seeking a talented professional to join the high-performing DS&A team supporting the diverse portfolio of businesses that constitute Global Specialty.Overview of the Position The Performance Analytics Consultant works with their team to execute the vision and strategy for data and performance analytics in Global Specialty. They will cultivate a culture of data-driven decision-making, accountability, and execute on strategic initiatives resulting in profitable growth productively and efficiently. As a partner to GS Underwriting and related partners – including Product, Actuarial and Finance they will leverage the power of data and analytics to support the pursuit of the organization’s business objectives. This teammate will dig deep into GS business development, financial and operating performance and related data to understand what’s driving patterns and trends in metrics and the impact on underwriting appetite and business processes. The position will touch many of the diverse segments of Global Specialty which include Financial Lines, Primary and Excess Casualty, Property, Specialty Auto, Inland and Ocean Marine, Environmental, Bond, Livestock, Energy and Credit & Political Risk, with both a US and International presence in many lines.This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office location (Charlotte NC; Hartford, CT; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; San Antonio, TX; Lake Mary, FL) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship.The ideal candidate for the Performance Analytics Consultant Position

Has business analytics skills and can translate the story to business partners

Asks probing questions to get key information from business partners, builds strong partnerships, and helps lift the analytical capabilities of the organization

Is curious, creative, collaborative, and eager to learn new things

Has foundational knowledge of insurance product coverages, common metrics, & actuarial loss concepts

Can quickly gain knowledge of the GS business from both Underwriting and Operational perspectives

Has working knowledge of analytical, visualization, data manipulation and reporting tools

Responsibilities

Deep dive analysis into data trends to uncover key drivers, explain and visualize results, and communicate to Underwriting and other business partners

Support Underwriting strategies to improve operational results and address emerging trends

Intermediate level analytics, including analyzing internal and external influences, leading and lagging indicators and application of visual and statistical techniques as appropriate

Develop a deep understanding of Global Specialty data assets; combine data from multiple disparate sources.

Contribute to building trusted partnerships with Underwriting and related partners by developing business insights from flow, profitability, efficiency, distribution and book profile metrics.

Experience & Skills

Creative problem solving and curious mindset with a passion for delivering outcomes

Strong analytical experience

Ability to build working relationships with business partners & bring groups of folks together to solve problems. Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently.

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Use of analytical and data visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau)

Knowledge of data warehousing / relational databases and foundational experience with SQL

CompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
