Job Description: Under the direction of the Supervisor, the lab assistant is responsible for support functions, preanalytical processing, preparing specimens to send to appropriate reference laboratories and accessioning/ registration functions. High School Graduate or equivalent 1 year of experience in a laboratory, medical or other related settingORany experience or training that supports minimum training for the duties above Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal, written and listening) skills and good leadership abilities. Ability to comply with OSHA and applicable regulatory requirements by following established procedures in order to maintain a safe laboratory environment and to meet accreditation standards. Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Role Scope Advanced Practitioners at Hartford hospital practice Emergency Medicine (ED) / Emergency Room (ER) in a very busy level 1 trauma center alongside residents and attendings. Suturing, minor surgical skills, splinting/casting, gyn exam (job or preceptorship experience). Strongly preferred: minimum 1 year experience in Emergency Medicine. Proficiency with minor surgical skills essential. Required: Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to positively interact with medicalnursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Strong customer service skills with a focus on quality and efficiency. The ability to positively react to a busy, demanding, and dynamic clinical atmosphere with varying patient volumes, acuities, and medical problems. FNP / PA-C: graduation from an accredited FNP / PA program (Elective rotation in Emergency Medicine strongly preferred), Masters degree preferred. Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role. Required Education Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below. Experience In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered. Licensure, Certification, Registration Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment. Language Skills Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English.
