The Hartford Hospital Public Safety department has been in existence for over 40 years providing a wide variety security services to the hospital community. The department has over 90 members that are all State of CT certified. Officers receive additional training from a certified in house instructor upon hire. Job Summary Public Safety Officers serve as front line guardians to the Hartford HealthCare Community by providing customer service and ensuring our environments are safe, secure and more prepared for all of our patients, visitors, colleagues, clinicians and physicians. Public Safety Officers are equipped to prevent hazardous situations with their presence, respond and manage hazardous and emergency situations and provide support and resources when situations are successfully managed. · Provides professional, customer service focused assistance to the HHC Community including patients, visitors, families, colleagues, clinicians, physicians, and the first responder community, among others. · Patrols and rounds facility to identify concerning activity, safety concerns or other problems. May be assigned to fixed areas to check credentials, provide information or directions. When assigned to mobile patrols, operates vehicles in a safe manner complying with all traffic and safety rules. · Provides a timely response, uses problem solving to take appropriate action to manage and investigate security incidents and hazards. · Maintain current knowledge of instructions, policies and procedures and performs work in accordance with these guidelines. · Shares information with other Public Safety Officers, maintains accurate activity logs and completes reports and documentation. · Partners with law enforcement and other first responders when circumstances warrant. · Informs supervisor or other leadership of unusual situations and request additional assistance as needed. · Completes other duties as assigned. One (1) year of relevant experience (public safety, corrections, emergency medical services, military) /required/. High school diploma/GED required · Valid driver’s license /required/ · Valid CT Guard Card /required/ · Ability to read, write, speak and understand English /required/ · Two (2) years of relevant experience /preferred/ · Basic First Aid and CPR /preferred/ · Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) /preferred/ · Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB)/ preferred/ · Multilingual /preferred/ · Ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently with little direction based on the current circumstances. · Focused on providing an exceptional experience to our patients, customers, staff, organizations, and internal and external partners. · Ability to analyze and solve a variety of difficult situations, problem events, emergencies. · Attention to detail and ability to handle tasks independently. · Basic to intermediate computer and technology skills, electronic tools and resources. The Occupational Therapist (OT) delegates patient care responsibilities to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. This role encompasses evaluation skills and techniques, analysis of patients, and application Occupational Therapy to maximize the patient\'s functional independence. · Acute care working experience or affiliation highly preferred. · Graduate of Occupational Therapy Program from an accredited American Occupational Therapy Association school, BS degree or entry level master\'s degree. · Current Occupational Therapist License required. The Colleague Health Services Nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery of the customer focused, clinical programs of Colleague Health Services which promote the health and safety of all Hartford HealthCare colleagues.
