The Neuro-Surgical ICU is a 17 bed adult in-patient unit caring for critically ill Neurological patients. Our patients have diagnosis of stroke, head or spinal cord trauma and brain hemorrhage. These patients require a staff specialized in intra-cranial and hemo-dynamic monitoring along with the use of vaso-active medications. In this rewarding and exciting specialty, our team is highly motivated and has advanced critical thinking skills. Job Summary In Critical Care, our Registered Nurses (RNs) are highly skilled and trained; helping to provide expertise at the bedside and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. The units heavily rely on a team-based mentality in which all healthcare team members work congruently to achieve the best outcomes based on the Hartford Healthcare values of Safety, Excellence, Integrity and Caring. Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) License. Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required). BLS certification by the American Heart Association and proof of Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire. Minimum one year Acute Care RN experience strongly preferred. In exceptional circumstances, experienced ASN/ADN nurses currently in pursuit of a BSN or MSN may be considered. North 11 is a surgical unit with private rooms, is comprised of Neurosurgical and Trauma patients. There is room for growth and development, as nurses are eventually cross trained into the Center 11 an epilepsy unit. The nurses on North 11 are also Stroke Certified. Current Connecticut RN License. The Medical Intensive Care Unit is a 16-bed unit that provides care to patients with a wide range of complex, highly acute medical issues. These issues include but are not limited to; respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver injury/failure, kidney injury/failure, sepsis, and drug and alcohol withdrawal. Under the supervision of a Critical Care Pulmonologist, the unit is staffed 24 hours-a-day with a team of Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, and medical house staff physicians consisting of interns and residents. In the Medical ICU, our goal is to develop our staff into well-rounded, highly skilled medical professionals. The unit will push you to your limits as you will be working in a fast-paced environment where your critical thinking, vast medical knowledge, clear communication, and your extensive skillset will be challenged and grown. The Float Pool at Hartford Hospital, also known as the STAR Team, is comprised of experienced, highly skilled Nursing professionals. The Emergency Department at Hartford Hospital, a tertiary care teaching hospital, is seeking both new graduate and experienced nurses. To foster the growth of each new RN to the department, a unique mentorship program has been developed to support the transition into our department during each RN’s first year here. Our mentorship program includes experienced nurses who offer their time to all of our newest team members. Through the mentorship program, we’ve successfully created professional colleague relationships that contribute to each RN’s individual success within our department. In addition to being one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Connecticut, HHED is also an accredited Level 1 Trauma Center, chest pain center and comprehensive stroke center, treating patients of the highest acuity in the region. Comprised of 109 beds, with the addition of a new 19 bed ED Observation Unit, HHED treats an average of 109,000 patients annually.
